Williams: Parting Company

Thanks to Polykahr for this terrific essay by Walter Williams on the consequences of repeated Constitutional abuses by the FedGov.

Read it all, but here's a taste:

***
...You say, "Williams, what do you mean by constitutional abrogation?"

Let's look at just some of the magnitude of the violations. Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution lists the activities for which Congress is authorized to tax and spend. Nowhere on that list is authority for Congress to tax and spend for: prescription drugs, Social Security, public education, farm subsidies, bank and business bailouts, food stamps and other activities that represent roughly two-thirds of the federal budget. Neither is there authority for congressional mandates to the states and people about how they may use their land, the speed at which they can drive, whether a library has wheelchair ramps and the gallons of water used per toilet flush. The list of congressional violations of both the letter and spirit of the Constitution is virtually without end. Our derelict Supreme Court has given Congress sanction to do anything upon which they can muster a majority vote...

Were the OpFor rational and just, his proposal would be a practical way forward.

Sic semper tyrannis.

Williams continues to be thoughtful and consistently so on the subject of free-markets, Constitutionally limited governance and a common sense approach to the rule of law.

He is truly an honest man of intellect and integrity. I have been reading him for over 20 years and he is as correct today as he was then.

He is head and shoulders above the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and the other MSM shills for the Republican Party.

anon says it all. w.w. writes such amazing stuff.

tom woods once said of lew rockwell that on nearly any subject, lew's words make him feel "so stupid for not having thought that way already." well i haven't been reading walter anywhere nearly as long as he's been around, but he's definitely got that going on.

FU(K Succession!

Progressiveism is a foreign ideology. Imported by the slaver element of the Elitist so called "intellectuals". To Use Fabian/Gramscian Socialism to undermine the Founders republic. With the aid of the socialists of the Democratic Party with socialist/progressive/moderate Republicans in a supporting role over the past Seventy-Five years. Imported with the backing of foreign dictatorships agents such as the KGB to name one.

If that is how they want to live they can move to Europe. But not one grain of the soil of the United States should be willingly given to the Progressive, Liberal, Fascist, Leftist, Communitarian, Whatever these slavers call themselves this week!
