Open Source Intel Project

Think of it as a "Drudge Report" for right-minded folks.

Volunteers will agree to read English-language foreign dailies on an ongoing basis. When they find a relevant article, send it by link, along with a synopsis, to the designated email box.

The mods will review, edit as needed, and post it to the website.

Volunteers please put an email addy in the comments below.

We expect to go live by Christmas with rev 1.0.

Thanks in advance.

UPDATE 2255 EST 13 DEC 2010: Early adopters will get their choice of the publication list once it is finished.

As always, put your opsec and comsec as first priority. If you are concerned about listing your email addy here, then figure out an alternative and we'll have our email running in a couple days.

Thanks.

hmmmm
sounds interesting but I am not keen on posting my email address on the public section of this forum....nothing personal. I just value my privacy and take security as a very serious matter.

Surely you know this place is being watched.

KPN -- I understand. If you can figure out a way to work the comsec issues to your satisfaction, we'd welcome you aboard.

MODERATOR - please do NOT post our email addresses on this site. We want to help, but don't want to be identified in any way. Thanks.

why dont you guys just create an email address (google/yahoo etc). Want security? Roll your own and publish your key? seems simple enough.

Just a thought.

You might want to consider for a back-up plan to publish a paper newsletter to mail/distribute.

Never know when the Internet czar decides to shut down the internet to control the flow of information.
For the sake of our safety, of course.

Make it like a chain letter. Mail some to a few, requesting them to make copies to mail or distribute others. No one person has all the addresses, see?

Old school and slow, but it's one way to keep info going if the grid goes down.

I follow WRSA through my Blogger account. Is it possible that a blog owner can email someone who follows that way? If so, then it would be possible to sign up to follow, then have the site admin email you in response to your request in the comments section instead of publishing your email address publically. Can anyone confirm this? And if possible to do it this way, then sign me up. Otherwise we’ll figure this out some other way.

Sounds like a good way to get charged with conspiracy. You sure that isn't the intent?

CA: Since you're "moderating" comments, you could easily copy/paste the e-mail addys into a private Doc then "REJECT" the comment so it never goes public.

You could then send a message to all the addys you collected, and post a "verification sent - if you don't get it check SPAM folders then let me know..." message on the blog.

Make sense?

As for opsec, You could set up a hushmail account or other PGP encrypted email program.
We should decide on which papers and issues would be relevant.Sending out Priority Intelligence Requests might be a good idea. Monitoring all the media outlets,i.e. TV, radio, print and the Net is a big job so we should focus on the issues relevant to our intel needs.
There are many OSINT websites that should be monitiored to.

Anon at 5:11:

I used to draft conspiracy charges.

Tell me how folks gathering together to read and report out on stories from major world news periodicals would fit the statute below?

TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 19 > § 371

§ 371. Conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud United States

If two or more persons conspire either to commit any offense against the United States, or to defraud the United States, or any agency thereof in any manner or for any purpose, and one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

If, however, the offense, the commission of which is the object of the conspiracy, is a misdemeanor only, the punishment for such conspiracy shall not exceed the maximum punishment provided for such misdemeanor.

To Concerned American:

What I'm saying is: right now, you're just sharing news....the problem is the next step after it's been gathered and you can pretend to be coy about that next step but I'm simply advising everyone to tread very carefully for what should be obvious reasons.

It's pretty easy to end up in the legal system and not so easy to get out of it.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Understood.

But folks need to realize that there is a near-100% certainty that anyone who comes here or anyplace like already has their IP address logged with the NKVD.

Comes with the territory....

Agreed and completely understood. None of us are really anonymous. ;)

I just caution everyone to be careful.

If you want to make a research list in your AO.....might be very useful as well.

I think keeping things very generalized is much safer, for now anyway.

Samizdat - no longer practical given the all encompassing reach of the Beast.

There's no 'safe' way, so it might as well be open . . . since they already have all the IP's from this and similar sites, why bother
with encryption, and they decide who the enemy is.

Since 'worms' are already in place,
any system would be compromised in short order anyway.

Paper mailed from blind addresses to blind addresses, outside the USPS, for further distribution using another level of blind, by USPS.

I notice my first comment was badly composed. Sorry, I claim lack of sleep for that.

I learned the hard way, gents . . .
piss off the wrong people and you're done. Innocence has nothing to do with it. They have all the cards and you have zip, Period.

I was lucky to get away with a year behind the wire and three years' supervision. Oh, and my career destroyed, my wife's career destroyed, my son's career damaged and we lost everything.

They don't f*** around. I could be dead. I may be pissing them off again with this. But I'm 70+ now and so,if they put me down now,it won't mean much.

I like Alexander Solzenytsin's idea

"Meet 'em at the door with axes and hammers! Kill the bastards!
Rush out and kill the driver, too.
Overturn the car and burn it! Let them know there's a price for what they do! So the next night, they might not be so eager to kick in your doors."

"If they come back with tanks, meet them iron bars in the tracks and petrol bombs"
